Russian Wedding Band Commission ✨

My first challenge with this remodel was to part an existing piece.

It was made up of interlocking sections to create a spring like middle section all 79 remaining diamonds were pave set and needed removing from their housing and rhodium plating removed.

Rhodium is used historically plating wise to make white gold look more like platinum, its extremely hard and doesn’t melt well so it was painstaking work to remove this in itself so white gold is often scrapped and swapped for new, but with our current metal costs especially 18 carat white gold I was determined to use what we had.

Adding another ring into the mix to make a statement piece using all the 79 1.2mm diamonds and 5 2.6 mm stones meant a bit of engineering was needed from design to rebuild.

We decided on a very cool idea of a Russian Wedding Band.

With pieces that require this level of precision I often make a mock up in silver first to get the size perfect, they are hard to size, especially if encrusted in diamonds!

With the fit perfect I was able to work out stone spacings and it was off to assay and setting.

A feat in itself but the resulting piece is magnificent with a touch of gold left for another future project.

A really stunning piece.
